Have AT&T service and thinking about the AT&T Access Card from Citi? You’ll earn 2x rewards on AT&T purchases, plus 2x rewards for online purchases. But the card isn’t as rewarding as its former counterpart, the AT&T Access More Card.

Here are five things you need to know:

1. It earns ThankYou Points

The AT&T Access Card from Citi rewards users with ThankYou Points, which can be redeemed for a wide variety of rewards, including gift cards, cash, travel, merchandise and debt payments. This is great for consumers who want options when it comes to reward redemption. Note, though, that the value of a ThankYou Point depends on the redemption method you choose.

If you have another Citi credit card that earns ThankYou Points, you can combine your points into one pool for easy redemption.

Also, if you have a Citi credit card that allows for point transfers to travel partners, like the Citi Prestige® Card or Citi Premier® Card, you can use the points earned on the AT&T Access Card to transfer to those partners for increased reward value.

Not only can you pool your own piles of points together, but you also can transfer qualifying points to another cardholder with a ThankYou Points account. The transferred points expire 90 days after the transfer date, but this is a great option to help a friend or family member reach a redemption threshold.

3. Its cousin card is closed to new applicants

Citi previously offered two different AT&T-branded credit cards, but the more premium version, the AT&T Access More Card from Citi, has been closed to new applicants.

The AT&T Access More Card offered 3x points on online purchases from retail and travel websites, 3x points on products and services purchased directly from AT&T and 1 point on every other $1 spent. Plus, a 10,000-point anniversary bonus each year when you spent $10,000 with the card.

Legacy cardholders can still use the card for superior rewards, but new applicants can no longer receive the AT&T Access More Card from Citi.

The AT&T Access Card from Citi has a $0 annual fee. And it does offer a welcome bonus. New cardholders can earn 10,000 ThankYou Points after spending $1,000 in purchases on the card in the first three months. That’s enough for $100 in gift cards. (You may even be able to find a more appealing offer if you check the AT&T site directly.)

Though you won’t pay a fee to hold the card, chances are that a different credit card can be more rewarding for you.

The Citi Double Cash® Card earns 2% rewards back on everything (1% when you make a purchase and 1% when you pay it off) and it also carries a $0 annual fee. The Citi Double Cash® Card earns cash back, but you can choose to convert your cash back into ThankYou Points, just like the AT&T Access Card.
